Video Tryouts Made Simple

A phone camera is all you need—no editing required. Send a few short videos showing your player’s hitting, speed, and defense at their primary position. Pitchers and catchers can include the additional clips below.

All Players

Hitting

Record five to 10 swings from the side, with the camera facing the front of the player’s shirt. Keep their full body and bat in view. Batting practice or front toss is preferred, but tee work is fine.

All Players

Speed

Record a sprint from home plate through first base on a 90-foot base path. Keep the player in view for the entire sprint.

Choose Your Position

Fielding + Throwing

Infielders: Field five ground balls at your primary position, including balls to either side. Show the throw to the appropriate base.

Outfielders: Catch five fly balls, including balls that require movement. Include two or three throws to a cutoff player or base.

If Applicable

Pitching or Catching

Pitchers: Send a short video showing several fastballs and the other pitches you normally throw. Film from the side or safely behind the catcher.

Catchers: Show a few receiving and blocking reps, plus three throws to second base.

Keep it simple. Film a few consecutive reps and keep the full player visible. For hitting and pitching, film from a safe location behind a protective screen or barrier. Recent game footage and a stat sheet are welcome, but not required. Our coaches will follow up if they need anything else.

Include a Stat Sheet, If Available

Send a recent season stat sheet, GameChanger summary, or existing player profile with your videos. Identify the team, season, competition level, and stat source. Separate school and travel seasons when possible.

Position Players

Hitting + Baserunning

Include games, plate appearances, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, hits, doubles, triples, home runs, walks, strikeouts, stolen bases, and caught stealing—where tracked.

Pitchers

Pitching Results

Include appearances, starts, innings pitched, ERA, WHIP, strikeouts, walks, and hits allowed—where tracked. Include the season and competition level for context.

Have existing performance measurements? Include 60-yard time, exit velocity, position throwing velocity, pitching velocity by pitch type, or catcher pop time. List the date, measurement method, and testing conditions. Stats and measurements are helpful, but not required. They support video review and follow-up evaluation.

Prefer an In-Person Evaluation?

Request a private session with Coach Collins at Divergent Performance. Email by October 31 with your player’s information and availability so we can coordinate a session.
